As a child, I LOVED reading. Books were my passion and I would pick up every
Newberry Medal winning book I could find. I especially loved the "Ramona" series by
Beverly Cleary, and the "Shoes" series by
Noel Streatfield.
One of my goals as a mother is to share this passion of reading books with Claire. Vince and I started building her library even before she was born. The first book I ever purchased for her is the classic
Guess How Much I Love You - I used to read that book aloud when Claire was still
in utero, hoping that she could hear my voice from inside my womb.
Right now, I think she has about 30 different books, mostly ABC and counting books. She has a lot of
Elmo books that have flaps for her to lift..or rather, rip apart. I am hoping her book-ripping antics is just a phase.
Anyway, since we are on the topic of reading, I thought I'd mention that earlier this week, my co-worker Carolyn lent me two books which I am quite excited about --
The Secret Life of Bees and
The Lovely Bones. They should be good. The last book I read (that was not about computers, scrapbooking, cooking or photography) was
The Da Vinci Code. Boy, that one was a real disappointment.
